Fall into tunics

by Amanda Bedgood

The season's versatile must have

I promise to keep the boho talk to a minimum in this post. But, the embroidered tunic often lends itself to that vibe. Good news: even the preppiest of dressers, however, can pull off this one.

Easy dresses and tunics that can serve as shirt, dress or atop leggings (this IND Styler's fav) are in full force again this season. Chief among them are pieces that at time border on hippie chic with details like embroidered lines and boho billowing sleeves. But, there are some other options for tunics that ride the fine line of boho and give any dresser a chance to work the easy shape.

The perfect example of this hybrid is over at Vanessa V. where a tunic of the navy with white embroidery variety is perfect with jeans and simple flats. For a funky dress try the Aztec-inspired dress in black over at Maven Womenswear. They paired it with funky combat boots (another seasonal must have). If you're less of a risk taker in the style department, try with a simple flat boot or even a western inspired one. At Brother's on the Boulevard a cinnamon red top is the boho take on the tunic with a shape that reminds us of one of favorite style icons - Penny Lane of Almost Famous. (Hemline carries the same top). Perfect paired with super hippie chic jeans or distressed skinnies, this is the sort of top that begs for one too many necklaces and a braid in your hair.
