After formally being named last week as the newest member of MidSouth Bank's board of directors, retired NFL quarterback and former UL Lafayette standout Jake Delhomme appeared Thursday morning on Fox Business Network's "Markets Now" to discuss life after the pros.
After formally being named last week as the newest member of MidSouth Bank's board of directors, retired NFL quarterback and former UL Lafayette standout Jake Delhomme appeared Thursday morning on Fox Business Network's "Markets Now" to discuss life after the pros.
Delhomme, who entered the NFL an unsigned free agent before joining the New Orleans Saints, would eventually go on to commandeer the Carolina Panthers in their bid for Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2003. After stints with the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans, Delhomme, in 2011, brought his career in the NFL to an end, marking a 14-year run for the Breaux Bridge native.
Delhomme's appearance on Thursday's show was for a discussion on finding success after the NFL, and was prompted by his appointment last week to MidSouth's board of directors.
"I was a rookie free agent so it's not like I had tons of money tossed at me," explained Delhomme, adding one valuable less he took from his time as a pro was "save your money ... because that windfall of money will not be there for the rest of your life."
