Acadiana 365’s Pick of the Day: Les Vues Film Series

Vermilionville's free monthly film series screens "Urbanized," a documentary film about the design of cities.

For September, the Les Vues Film Series is screening Urbanized, a documentary that explores the intricate details of how cities are designed, including issues and strategies behind urban design and features some of the world's foremost architects, planners, policymakers, builders and thinkers.

The film also details the population growth of cities today with more than half of the world's population now living in urban areasup to 75 percent of them expected to live in a city by 2050 as well as how some cities are shrinking and how challenges such as balance housing, mobility, public space, civic engagement, economic development and environmental policy are quickly becoming universal concerns.

This month's Les Vues screening will be curated by local filmmakers Allison Bohl DeHart and Peter DeHart from the Makemade creative project who will be holding a Q & A discussion after the film.

The Les Vues Film Series screens Urbanized on Monday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m., at the Vermilionville Performance Center, located at 300 Fisher Road. For more information about Les Vues, visit Vermilionville.org.
