fleming
John Fleming was elected by Louisiana voters. Just sayin'... U.S. Rep. John Fleming, R-1%, is a skeptical man. Increasingly aligned with the Tea Party faction of the GOP, the Minden physician is distrustful of Congressional Budget Office Director Doug Elmendorf, an esteemed economist so that's why he runs the nonpartisan CBO and whatnot.

In a recent New York Times article about the impending shutdown of the federal government over the far right's inability to comprehend the phrase "passed by Congress, signed by the president and upheld by the Supreme Court," Elmendorf opined that Uncle Sam defaulting on his debts "would be a dangerous gamble."

Fleming's response? "Hogwash! Where's my whittlin' stick!"

OK, that wasn't his verbatim response. It was: "Economists, what have they been doing? They make all sorts of predictions. Many times they're wrong, so I don't think we should run government based on economists' predictions."

Now replace "economists" with "scientists" and you get the gist of Fleming and his ilk and the harm they're doing to reason. This is the same bozo who railed on Facebook against a planned $8 billion Planned Parenthood "abortionplex" detailed in a story by satire (read: fake) website The Onion. The millionaire physician who owns a bunch of Subway restaurants in north Louisiana also famously complained on CNBC that after reinvesting in his business and such he only has about $600,000 out of his $6.3 million in profits to feed his family.

The Flemings are on the Caviar Diet. It's like the Atkins Diet, but caviar.
