Party Girl

Party Girl for October 2013

by Walter Pierce

All the pretty people!

The IND Style awards brought out dozens of models in fall's best new pieces for a show that was on fire from playful '80s from Maven to lux furs from Raffaele's and high fashion everyday wares from Vanessa V. Boutique. Kiki's gals were decked out with the best in clothes and beautiful bags (of course) while the ever-eclectic edgy boho gals of Hemline rocked tie dye and a bit of leather. Shoe La La ladies were a vision in simple shapes and statement shoes, and Sky Blue brought its vintage game with demure dresses like the beauty on Eden Skye. Herringstone's head gal - Hannah Herrington Lavergne - stomped the runway in a goddess gown, and Park Lane proved being ladylike can be anything but boring. The lady and gent duos from Brother's brought us from easy everyday looks to dapper suits and genteel cocktail, while Knotting Hill showed us moto and military just may be the perfect marriage. All proof that variety is the spice of life and style.

Acadiana Center for the Arts transformed into a high energy house of fashion for the second annual INDstyle Awards featuring eight stylish local honorees and a runway show of fierce fall fashion. Party Girl was on hand before the show to capture style and glamour on the red carpet. Show goers snapped camera phone pics for wardrobe styling inspiration, while honoree Don Holbert was the surprise of the show strutting the catwalk with man's best friend in tow. The evening ended with a salute to participating retail sponsors - Brother's, Herringstone's, Hemline, kiki, Knotting Hill, Maven, Park Lane, Raffaele/Dolci Modi, Sky Blue Clothing, Shoe La La and Vanessa V.

The American Cancer Society's Wiggin' Out at Scandals raised money for cancer and eyebrows of party-goers often caught mouthing: "Who's that girl?" Wigs transferred ladies into hippie chicks, disco queens and fiery red heads, but Josh Bourgeois was dubbed crowd favorite in his purple mohawk - which perfectly matched his prize-winning loot, an LSU ice chest. The always stylish Nandi Linscombe was spotted in an avant garde ginger hued 'do alongside her dad, and cancer survivor, Lance donning a sky-high platinum afro that was this Party Girl's favorite of the night.
