The zombie apocalypse dawns in downtown Lafayette Saturday and the public is invited to join in the undead fun.

The zombie apocalypse dawns in downtown Lafayette Saturday and the public is invited to join in the undead fun.

It begins at 4:30 p.m. at Parc Sans Souci with the second annual Zombie Walk as scores of upstanding citizens decked out and painted up in their finest walking dead attire lurch through the downtown in anticipation of the final night of the Museum of Fear horror house at the Lafayette Science Museum.

Zombies get their marching orders at 4:30, following by walk beginning and ending at the park and followed by an after party featuring live music by Yakk and Bearfighter. Trybe Habibi Bizare and Planet Radio will also provide entertainment, and food trucks will be serving up victuals to any who can stomach a meal after so much mayhem.

Down Jefferson Street across from the old federal courthouse the final installment of Movies in the Parc goes totally drive-in and totally undead with a screening of director George Romero's 1968 classic, Night of the Living Dead, the zombie movie that inspired all other zombie flicks. The movie begins at dusk. Expect a few zombies from the Zombie Walk to liven up the festivities.

Admission for vehicles is $10 with a per-guest fee of $2. Crying children age 5 and younger get in free; a small price to pay to scar them for life. Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!
