On the fringe

by Amanda Bedgood

Fringe goes from day to night

Fringe has many incarnations. From flappers and the Jazz Age to Annie Oakley and western boots, it's an unexpectedly versatile trend that makes a bold statement. We didn't see fringe coming so very strongly for fall. But, now that it's here and cropping up everywhere from suede cross body bags to cocktail dresses and leather vests we hope it sticks around awhile.

Brother's on the Boulevard does the boho goes western fringe with their chocolate boots perfect for an all black ensemble or some equally boho prints and a hefty dose of denim. At Maven Womenswear there are several fringe-decked items. We're loving this one that combines blush pink (another unexpectedly hot fall item) and a shorter hemline. They also have some kimonos and other tops with fringe we'd dig with waxed denim.

At Hemline it's a buffet of fringe. Our fav for today - this super cool little black skirt they paired with this IND Styler's current color crush - army green. They have an amazing fringe vest that reminds us of rockers a la 1970-something and a sexy little cocktail dress covered in fringe.

Fringe is a trend that actually does work with any body type and age. The key - pick one piece. We usually aren't too bossy over at IND Style, but on this subject I stay firm. Fringe packs a powerful punch when done solo.
