For a party full of dead people, The Vampire's Ball was sure brimming with life. The Day of the Dead Casino - brainchild of Unitech's queen bee Deanna Head - benefitted The Children's Shelters and brought out the spooky and the quirky. Head herself outdid them all with a ghostly bridal ensemble while doc Michelle Carr was a sexy Day of the Dead diva and model Shaquana Lewis was dazzling in lace gloves and mysterious mask. There were pirates and more feathers than an avian exhibit could boast. Our favorite feathered fellow of the night was certainly Miles Cormier with a headdress and sparkling fringed ensemble Pocahontas would envy. The theme may have been Day of the Dead, but the event at River Oaks was much more night of the living.

Palates & Pâté Aperitif
The first taste of this year's Palates & Pâté whet the appetite. Supporters of Acadiana Outreach Center gathered at The French Press for a preview of the November event teeming with art, food and stellar getaways up for auction. Julie Calzone was the lady in red (leather) while Prissy Wilson was golden in a metallic top and Prissy Feinberg was a beauty in a blue wrap dress. Paul's gave us a glimpse of its custom necklace slated for the auction while Camille Baker was sparkling in a nude dress with the best accessory of them all - a dapper man on her arm by way of Robb Landry. IND Styler honoree Don Holbert proved denim works anywhere while Katie and Denny Culbert were a darling duo in anything but basic greys and blacks.
