Holiday home buys

by Amanda Bedgood

Open houses and great deals for interiors

It's not even Thanksgiving, but the tinsel is already going up (not at this house, but somewhere at someone's house) and we've got two spots to hit to get your house ready for the deluge of family (or perhaps buy a gift). Dunn's open house and amazing art from Lafayette Art Association and Gallery both promise the chance to buy local and utterly unique for the holidays.

Over at Dunn's on Rue Louis XIV the Holiday Open House is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday with 20 percent off of regular priced items. The first 25 customers get a goodie bag and there are special giveaways from 5 to 7 p.m. along with Christmas demos to get you in the holiday spirit. Some demos you even get to take with (think mercury glass holiday decorating and wreath making). And bring some toys while you're at it - Dunn's will collect Toys for Tots throughout the day.

If you're looking for art and amazing jewelry, head out to the Oil Center for Marche Noel. It's the second annual Holiday Art Market from the Lafayette Art Association at the St. Mary Boulevard gallery. The market is Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Pieces up include watercolor, photography, oils, pottery, jewelry, glass, metal, wood, fiber and mixed media.
