Yeah, this guy

A Lafourche Parish councilman has him some priorities all right: send the sons of bitches back to Mexico and build a new jail.

Voters in Lafourche head to the polls Saturday to decide on two property tax propositions, one of which would divert revenue away from the public library system - $800,000 each year for 30 years, according to the LA Times, which comes to $24 million - and toward building a new jail. Louisiana, after all, does very little well, but throwing people in jail is something of a specialty and Lafourche's current jail is inadequate for such a noble task.

Lafourche Parish Council Chairman Lindel Toups has no problem diverting money from the library because it's "teaching Mexicans how to speak English," he told the Tri-Parish Times.

"Let that son of a bitch go back to Mexico," Toups added. "There's just so many things they're doing that I don't agree with. ... Them junkies and hippies and food stamps [recipients] and all, they use the library to look at drugs and food stamps [on the Internet]. I see them do it."

Lindel Toups really said that. He witnessed junkies and poor people looking at drugs and food stamps on the interwebs!

The Times article pointed out that Toups' son and grandson have lived in said jail after being arrested on meth charges, so it stands to reason that he would want nice accommodations for his kinfolk.

The article adds that if Saturday's tax prop passes, the library system will be running a deficit within three years. And the Mexicans will be running scared!
