Merry Marketplace opens today

Merry Marketplace opens today with 15,000 square feet of unique gifts at the Top Shelf Arena at the intersection of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and LA 89. The event that runs today and tomorrow with dozens of southern vendors has goods from jewelry, home décor and clothing to children's toy and gourmet foods. And in its second year, has added two events.
"The first is the Very Merry Christmas Tree Auction, an event we are reviving for the Children's Shelters of Acadiana Youth," says show director Julie Greco.
Civic groups can donate and decorate unique Christmas trees that Merry Marketplace attendees can view and bid on during the two-day show.

The second event is perfect for the doll enthusiasts. The Very Merry Doll Fashion Show gives girls the chance to dress their 18" dolls in holiday finery and enter them in the show for a $10 donation to the Children's Shelters. Prizes will be awarded for Cutest, Most Elegant and Best Young Seamstress.
Admission to Merry Marketplace is $7 (free for one child under 12 per paid adult admission.) For the price of admission, show attendees also have a chance at winning door prizes contributed by the show's merchants. One will be awarded every 20 minutes throughout the show. A portion of the proceeds from the show benefit the Children's Shelters of Acadiana Youth.
