The planned Lafayette Grub Burger Bar will be designed to fit the style and architecture of Parc Lafayette; above is the company's Dallas restaurant.

Grub Burger Bar, founded in College Station, Texas, in early 2012, has chosen Lafayette for its first expansion into Louisiana. A 4,700-square-foot restaurant is slated to open late next year in Parc Lafayette, on the vacant property next to La Marquise department store. If all goes as planned, the Lafayette Grub Burger Bar will offer a 450-square-foot patio area, according to Adam Smith, director of development for Foremark Real Estate Services out of Dallas. Foremark provides development and site selection services to Grub Burger Bar.

Grub Burger Bar has single locations in College Station, Houston and Dallas and has a restaurant under construction in Atlanta. One is also planned for Midland, Texas, Smith tells ABiz.

Each location has its own identity, and the Lafayette store will be designed to fit the architecture of Parc Lafayette. "They are very good at tailoring the look to an individual development," Smith says.

Smith notes that Grub Burger was founded as an answer to "pretty tired and old [burger] concepts," and while the service is quick-casual (you order at the counter), it is a sit-down eatery with a full bar.

Grub Burger's main menu offers a number of certified Angus beef burgers (Smith suggests the Texas Luau and OMG, which is loaded with chili, onions and French fries), along with salmon, tuna, chickpea/eggplant, turkey and chicken burgers. Grub also has salads and sides like Black Bean & Charred Corn Medley and onion rings made with Shiner Bock that are hand-battered and deep fried and served with chipotle ketchup. At least eight varieties of milkshakes are offered. Spiked milkshakes? You bet. There are six of those.
