Lafayette's first "dry bar" coming mid-January
Get ready ladies, because Lafayette is about to get a little bit of big city glamour. Blow Bar, a locally owned salon offering hair styling, blowouts and make-up application, opens in Parc Lafayette mid-January. The salon will take over the former E's Kitchen space between Armentor Jewelers and Cathy Miller Interiors. (E's Kitchen relocated to a bigger space in the center.)

Blow Bar differs from traditional salons, as it won't offer cut and color services, just style. Starting at $40, you can get a shampoo and style or for a little more, an up-do. Clients will be able to choose a style from a look book of offerings ranging from sleek and straight to flowing curls. Make-up application appointments for special events and group styling will also be available for wedding parties.
Blow Bar's "look book" will help customers choose their style.
Salons like Blow Bar, commonly referred to as "dry bars," are popular in Los Angeles, New York and Dallas. The thinking is that if you focus on one specific service stylists tend do that task quickly and skillfully. It doesn't hurt that often guests are also showered with Champagne, light snacks and pampering during the treatment.
Amenities like these are what potential clients can expect from locally owned Blow Bar. "The space will reflect a modern, Hollywood-chic design," says Manager Laura Steiner. Owner Vic Patel is planning a Jan. 15 opening date - right in time to start serving clients for Mardi Gras ball season.
