Lafayette City-Parish Councilman Don Bertrand will serve a second three-year term on the American Public Power Association's Policy Makers Council, an APPA board tasked with advising and directing APPA policy toward promoting federal legislation important to the more than 2,000 community-owned utilities serving 47 million consumers nationwide.

Bertrand, the current chairman of the Lafayette Public Utilities Authority, a sub-group of the council, represents Lafayette Utilities System on the Policy Makers Council. The appointment was made by the APPA's board of directors. The 40-member council meets at least twice per year and lobbies members of Congress and their staff to promote legislation.
