Party Girl

Party Girl

The place to be March 4 was the opening of the Shaw Center for the Arts in Baton Rouge and Tsunami's second location. With a rooftop spot overlooking the Mississippi River, those Acadiana girls Michele Ezell and Leah Simon aren't doing too bad. And they sure did look cute, both wearing ruffled skirts. Michele says a highlight of opening night was serving the restaurant's "edible art" to guests like Mayor Kip Holden, Gov. Kathleen Blanco, LSU Chancellor William Jenkins and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Michael Berg ' not to mention taking in the breathtaking sunset on the terrace. Now Michele and Leah get to enjoy that view every night!

Speaking of beautiful views, the Avec Souci annual spring garden tour is coming up May 1. The group of ladies held a kickoff luncheon and fundraiser on St. Patrick's Day at the home of Ann Knight. The color green was especially appropriate for the club, and gorgeous flower arrangements filled with greens helped get everyone in the spirit. Party Girl had a wonderful time visiting with this year's homeowners on the tour, in addition to sipping some white wine and snacking on delicious pasta salad and cucumber sandwiches. And I have to tell y'all, Ann Knight has a beautiful home, and her gardens can rival any on the tour. Recipients of the tour's proceeds for 2005 were also announced: Buddy Palmer was there representing the Acadiana Arts Council, Valerie Keller representing Acadiana Outreach, Michelle Izzo for Faith House, Jeanette Alcon for Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic, Sally Burdette and Mimi Prevost for Sunshine Foundation, and representatives of Acadiana Therapeutic Riding Organization and the University of Louisiana Foundation also attended. Homeowners in attendance included Jenny Cole, Rosary Russo, Lue Svendson and Claire Ward. Kathy Entes' home is also on the tour, but she couldn't make it to the luncheon. You sure missed out Kathy! I hope all of my friends' spring and summer activities are starting to bloom out there, and don't forget to keep Party Girl posted.
