Party Girl knows everybody's working on their Lenten penances out there, but celebrations of all kinds continue in Acadiana. Coeur de Lion Publishing and Dwight and Nedra Andrus hosted a private book launch and reception at à la carte March 3 in honor of Ashley Andrus' latest children's book, As Told By Milo My Very Own Family. The book is the first in a series about Ashley's childhood pet chihuahua, Milo, and was illustrated by her childhood friend Katy Onebane. The book is Ashley's second; her first was a collection of poetry, The Road Unseen. "The night was a night I'll never forget," she says. "I got to celebrate my accomplishment with those I love most, my family." We can look forward to more books in the Milo series, when he takes a trip to camp, has a new brother and goes to the vet.
Local vitamin company Panacea Products recently was one of the first in the state to purchase a Limited Edition Les Paul guitar from the Music Rising campaign, created by U2's The Edge. The guitar is decorated in Mardi Gras colors and partially made from wood fragments found in the rubble of New Orleans. Panacea is taking its new guitar on tour and started with Marc Broussard's Feb. 24 performance at Nitetown. "What a better way to start this journey than by getting one of our native sons to perform with the Les Paul in Louisiana?" says Michael Handley, Panacea's executive officer. After signing the guitar, Marc said he had a great time making his mark on history.
On the wedding front, Jill Howell and Charlie Dugas are getting married on the beach in Alabama this weekend. But the destination wedding won't stop there. The couple then goes on to Mexico for some honeymooning. "I just wanted a beach wedding," says Jill, adding that she really wanted to get married in Mexico, but her parents just couldn't miss their little girl's big day. Jill and Charlie went to high school together and reconnected later in life. They were engaged last May, and Jill's coworker at Stuller Place, Faith Moody, hosted a party at her home with all of their friends to celebrate. Congratulations Jill and Charlie.
