Dr. Craig Walker, founder, president and medical director of Cardiovascular Institute of the South, has been named clinical editor of Vascular Disease Management, a web-based platform that delivers timely clinical information on peripheral vascular disease. It is published by HMP Communications.
"We are excited to welcome Craig Walker, a pioneer in the field of vascular interventions, as the clinical editor of Vascular Disease Management," Jeff Martin, vice president of HMP Communications' cardiology division, said in a press release. "As a web-based journal, Vascular Disease Management has the unique ability to publish articles, cases, and videos in a timely manner, and Dr. Walker will bring invaluable experience to our journal as an expert in multimedia and clinical education on vascular therapies."
VDM is a double-blind, peer-reviewed journal for a multidisciplinary range of specialists treating peripheral vascular disease.
It addresses the latest in critical limb ischemia, limb salvage, renal artery disease, embolic protection, aortic stent grafts, and carotid artery intervention, among other therapies. The publication reaches a diverse audience of clinicians, including interventional cardiologists, vascular surgeons, interventional neurologists, neurosurgeons, interventional radiologists, as well as nephrologists, endocrinologists, and podiatrists.
Walker, who is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology, established CIS, which has locations in 14 cities across south Louisiana and Alabama.
He also co-founded one of the largest cardiovascular conferences in the nation, New Cardiovascular Horizons, to educate and train medical professionals on the latest techniques to treat coronary and peripheral vascular disease. He has served as primary investigator for several cardiovascular and peripheral devices. Walker is author and co-author of more than 60 medical publications and has delivered hundreds of presentations and lectures to both lay and medical audiences.
