Richard Young's growing list of hospitality industry holdings now includes T'Frere's bed and breakfast. He is also the owner of Event Rental, The Victorian and Feed n Seed.

Richard Young has purchased the popular Verot School Road bed and breakfast T'Frere's. The award-winning b&b was previously owned and operated by the Pastor family, and as the family looked for someone specific to sell the iconic property, Young was able to step in and add to his growing hospitality industry empire, which includes Event Rental, The Victorian in Broussard and the Feed n Seed in Downtown Lafayette.

Young plans to keep the T'Frere's brand and take over where the Pastor family left off while revitalizing the eight-room bed and breakfast. He will update the nine bathrooms and give the bedrooms a fresh touch with new linens and bedding. Exterior plans also include a redo of the courtyard to make it into a destination for small weddings and special events.

Young hopes the updates will continue to make T'Frere's a travel destination for those looking to experience South Louisiana culture and hospitality - and that it will continue to be especially inviting to foreign travelers as a majority of past guests are French.

During the transition, Young will bring on an event director and inn keeper who will live on site, keeping with the tradition of bed and breakfast operations. The history of T'Frere's is rooted in a legend that the home is haunted by spirits, and Young is hoping he will have an encounter: "I have not witnessed any visitations yet, but I am awaiting a meeting with a ghost."
