The modern pioneer

by Amanda Bedgood

Famed author, chef and stylish hunter slated for Paul Michael book signing

So often you hear someone say "she does it all." Rarely could they mean it in the way one means it when applied to modern pioneer Georgia Pellegrini. Celebrated author, accomplished chef and experienced hunter the woman that holds a gun with the finesse reserved for models and bottles of Chanel is making an appearance in Lafayette come Tuesday evening.

Her book, Modern Pioneering, is a look at doing things a new way by kind of doing it the old way. In her words: "I hunt and gather myself, and hone my pioneer skills. I seek ingredients that are anchored to the seasons and a definite place. It is the kind of food once served in simple restaurants and in homes by housewives, now, by grandmothers, by families for generations, and today by people culinary artisans choosing to do the hard work required to live off the best their hands can produce."

She'll be on hand at Paul Michael Company for a book signing and appearance complete with delish eats from some of Lafayette's finest culinary spots - Social Southern Table & Bar, The Lab Handcrafted Coffees & Comforts, and Charley Gs. IND had a chat with Paul Michael manager Bailey Caldwell who says the store snagged Pellegrini for a signing between cities thanks to her friendship with Paul Michael himself (who she references in one of her books).
Pellegrini will be on hand from 5 to 8 p.m. to sign her new book.
