The Green Army's Lafayette brigade has announced it will pay a visit Friday morning to Sen. Page Cortez to urge him to vote against Sen. Robert Adley's SB 553, which the group is calling the "Big Oil Bailout Bill of 2014."

The bill, which seeks to put a stop to the lawsuits filed by the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East and the Jefferson and Plaquemines parish governments against the oil and gas industry for coastal damages, has already cleared the Senate Transportation Committee and now awaits a vote from the full Senate.

The Green Army will be gathering at 11 a.m. Friday outside Cortez's Lafayette office, located at 101 W. Farrell Road.
