15th Judicial District Judge Durwood Conque has announced that he will not seek re-election after 27 years on the bench.

15th Judicial District Judge Durwood Conque has announced that he will not seek re-election after 27 years on the bench. Elected in 1987, Conque has also served as chief judge of the 15th JDC, which covers Acadia, Lafayette and Vermilion parishes, as well as president of the Louisiana District Judges Association and as a member of the Board of Governors of the Louisiana Judicial College.

"There is a time for everything, and I feel this is the right time for me to step down from office," Conque says in a press release announcing his departure. "I am very grateful to all the people who have stood by me for all these years."
