New hires, promotions, transfers in Acadiana business

Veteran health care executive Rich D'Amaro has joined Schumacher Group as CEO, managing the day-to-day operations. Company founder and Executive Chairman Dr. Kip Schumacher will remain active, responsible for the long-range vision of the company. D'Amaro joins SG from Subsidium Healthcare in Atlanta, Ga., which he founded in 2001. He also previously served as CEO/president of Tatum LLC, also a strategic consulting firm to the health care industry, and for 20 years was managing partner and chairman of the International Health Care Practice at the global powerhouse KPMG. D'Amaro has served as a board member at many distinguished institutions, including Vanderbilt University Technology Corporation, Saint Joseph's Healthcare System, Healthcare Georgia Foundation and EnduraCare Acute Care. Schumacher Group is one of the largest emergency medical staffing and management companies in the U.S.

Dr. William J. Roy Jr., a double board-certified gynecologic oncologist, has joined Cancer Center of Acadiana at Lafayette General Medical Center. Roy also has fellowship training in advanced pelvic surgery, with years of experience in minimally invasive laparoscopic/robotic surgery. A native of Mobile, Ala., he earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Louisville and fellowships in advanced pelvic surgery, ovarian cancer research and gynecologic oncology at Emory University, the University of Southampton and Yale University, respectively. In his most recent position, he was medical director of GYN oncology at the Cancer Center at Providence, an affiliate of the MD Anderson Cancer Network. Roy will practice gynecologic oncology and advanced pelvic surgery at CCA, allowing it to broaden its scope as a regional comprehensive center for the diagnosis and treatment of many types of cancer.

Spa Mizan, a locally owned and operated salon and spa, has been named among the winners of Salon Today 200, a national industry competition that honors growth and best business practices for spas and salons across North America. The local salon, which is owned by Ginger Louviere, was cited for excellence in the categories of growth, technology and customer service. The competition is sponsored by Salon Today.

Coldwell Banker Pelican Real Estate honored the success and dedication of its sales associates for 2013 at the company's annual Awards Banquet. Recognized during the event were top producers in several categories, including Cindy Bailey as Overall Top Residential Agent and Hamilton "Hammy" Davis as Overall Top Commercial Agent. The top five commercial producers were: No. 5 Bart Broussard, No. 4 Craig Pugliese, No. 3 Robert Minyard, No. 2 Phillip Brupbacher and No. 1 Hamilton "Hammy" Davis. Top 10 residential producers were: No. 10 Kevin Davis, No. 9 Debbie Gill, No. 8 Ronnie Richard, No. 7 Dee Cormier, No. 6 Tiffany Chiasson, No. 5 Midge Parker, No. 4 Sandy Thibodeaux, No. 3 Tommy Hayes, No. 2 Wendy McCombie and No. 1 Cindy Bailey. In addition to recognizing the top producers, this year's event included the rollout of the new Blue Pelican Intranet 2.0, Coldwell Banker Pelican Real Estate's comprehensive online resource.

The Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission was awarded accreditation from the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program for meeting the rigorous standards established by the professional destination marketing community. LCVC was originally awarded accreditation in 2008, making it the first destination management organization to achieve that honor in Louisiana.

Laurie J. James, president/CEO of LaurieJJames.com LLC, was awarded certification as a Master Career Director by Career Directors International. This designation distinguishes James as the first MCD in Louisiana and one of only 16 industry masters in career direction and leadership globally.

Dr. Craig Walker, founder, president and medical director of Cardiovascular Institute of the South, was named clinical editor of Vascular Disease Management, a web-based platform that delivers timely clinical information on peripheral vascular disease. It is published by HMP Communications. VDM is a double-blind, peer-reviewed journal for a multidisciplinary range of specialists treating peripheral vascular disease.

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in New Orleans was named Complex of the Year. The complex consists of eight offices, including the Lafayette facility at 400 E. Kaliste Saloom Road. The award is given annually to the office complex with the strongest performance in key criteria such as growth of client assets, retention and recruitment of financial advisers, and increases in revenues, profitability and productivity.
