Party Girl

Party Girl

Party Girls knows everything there is to know about crawfish ' or so I thought until I received an invitation to the Krewe of Bonaparte's "Great Krewefish Round-Up." At the Townhouse Restaurant in late April a number of krewe members seized the opportunity to rekindle the spirit of Mardi Gras with a crawfish boil. The springtime gathering was in full bloom under the courtyard tent; most krewe members wore attire fit for a western movie, decked out in cowboy hats and boots. Carrying on the western theme, horses were available to taxi each guest from the parking lot across the street to the front entrance of the restaurant. I must say, the boiled crawfish were delicious and plentiful as were the drinks. With perfect weather and music playing comes a perfect time to put on my dancing shoes, and Da Ja Vue kept the dance floor full for hours. Hats off to Renee Reaux, the chair, and her committee for a spectacular party.

Speaking of good taste, the taste of success is always sweet. On Friday, April 20, the Louisiana Technical College Greater Acadiana Region Foundation held the fourth annual "A Taste of Success" event at the Heymann Performing Arts and Convention Center. The evening was filled with mouth watering food prepared by the alumni of the LTC-Lafayette Campus Culinary Arts & Occupations program who are now serving as chefs in fine restaurants in the Acadiana area. The LTC alumni chefs included Roy Angelle of Oakbourne Country Club; Kevin, Greg and Bryan Dalcourt of Pa Pa's Catering; Patrick Gabriel of Sodexho; Michael Hebert of Hedgehog's Kitchen; Lonnie Pope from Townhouse Restaurant; Keith Sonnier of The Ballroom; and independent contractors Eleanor Curol and Kim Viator.

Of course Party Girl swooned over the beautifully displayed food, which also served to whet my appetite for the beautiful original jewelry pieces designed and fabricated by the instructors and students of LTC Campus Jewelry Manufacturing department. They were part of the silent auction, and KLFY TV-10 news anchor Darla Montgomery served as mistress of ceremonies. Guests enjoyed the musical entertainment of Louisiana Rhythm Katz and a performance by special guest and Tina Turner tribute artist Connie Garrett. The event was a triumph, with proceeds of the evening being dedicated to funding the greatest needs of the LTC Greater Acadiana Region campuses. The night was definitely a success story!
