Dish of the day: Charley G's lamb French dip

by Kari Walker

Tender meat and crispy bread create a white-linen-worthy sandwich

Charley G's has long been a destination for white linen dinner dining, but don't forget about this crowd-favorite when it comes to choosing a lunch spot - no suit and tie are necessary for this kind of lunch.

The mid-day menu is filled with fresh spring options like broiled oysters, coconut shrimp and salads for starters, but if you're looking to dive right into something unique served on soft and crispy Langlinais bread, then order today's dish of the day.

The lamb French dip sandwich starts with a lamb shoulder braised seven hours and then filled into the roll with a horseradish cream sauce, onion marmalade, melted Swiss cheese and a side of rosemary jus for dipping. For $12, the dish comes served with a side of French fries or onion rings, or you can make it a side of sweet potato fries for an extra dollar.

The hints of rosemary and mild spice of the horseradish cream compliment the tender lamb. If you've saved room for something sweet, don't forget to ask your server about what's new and seasonal from the housemade pastry selection.
