INNOV8 peaks with Keynote and Awards Luncheon

by Wynce Nolley

Best-selling author Steven Johnson speaks at the INNOV8 Keynote and Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, April 29.

As INNOV8 Lafayette enters its home stretch, the festival of innovation prepares for its signature event, the INNOV8 Keynote and Awards Luncheon. The awards luncheon honors those at INNOV8 who were faced with a particular challenge, came up with a solution and made it work. The height of the ceremony features the INNOV8 Keynote speech given this year by best-selling author Steven Berlin Johnson.

As one of the leading voices in the interdisciplinary, collaborative, open-minded approach to innovation of today, Johnson's writings have affected everything from cutting-edge ideas in urban planning to the battle against 21st-century terrorism.

Johnson's knack for spurring innovation has even inspired a PBS mini-series called How We Got to Now where Johnson will guide viewers through the power and legacy of great ideas, why and how they happened and how those ideas sometimes have unintended effects.

The INNOV8 Keynote and Awards Luncheon with Steven Johnson will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Tuesday, April 29, at the Cajundome Festival Ballroom, located at 444 Cajundome Blvd. Tickets are $45 or $35 for Friends of INNOV8 and can be purchased by contacting the Lafayette Chamber at 337-408-3653.
