Fresh and local menu flavors create a seasonal springtime feast

Chef Marc Krampe and the Social Southern Table and Bar folks are constantly changing the menu to give guests unique cuisine - with a change in the temperature outside comes a change in ingredients and items in the All the Buzz section of the menu.

The Buzz section is Krampe's way of utilizing what local produce, meats and herbs are in season and abundantly available. One of those dishes is the lamb and dumplings - a bed of handmade gnocchi smothered with a lamb ragout and housemade ricotta.

The gnocchi is spot on and the lamb ragout is rich but not heavy since it's prepared with white wine and a shallot butter.  The delicate flavors of the ricotta and shaved parmesan seal the deal that this dish is a bit of Italian-heaven made with Southern love.

Classics remain on the menu like the ever popular side dish of Brussels sprouts with shallots and garlic aioli - both this and the lamb and dumplings make perfect portions for sharing with a lunch or dinner date over cocktails.

No meal is complete without something sweet - a piping hot skillet brownie with root beer ice cream and a shot of cherry bourbon soda, known as the Brown Cow, are old-school soda shop flavors that also beg to be shared. But, the sweets menu also changes so be on the look out for some new flavor combos, especially those that highlight Louisiana strawberries.
