Cricket's Kitchen opens in Broussard

by Kari Walker

New plate lunch and Cajun cooking spot also features drive-thru

Fried pork chops are one of the plate lunch specialties at Cricket's Kitchen.

If your day's travels include a venture down Highway 90, make a lunchtime stop at the newest eatery in Broussard called Cricket's Kitchen. This spot opened earlier this week and is already all the buzz.

Here it's all about plate lunches and today's special is a smothered jalapeño chicken sausage with a choice of two sides for $8.50. IND Eats suggests the tomato and cucumber salad and steamed broccoli as sides - yes, two veggies, but we hear they are the crowd-favorites.

Other lunch plate options include classic red beans and rice, a fried pork chop, meatball stew and a crawfish étouffée.

Cricket's Kitchen caters to busy schedules and has a convenient drive-thru and also accepts call ahead orders. If you have time to relax, take in the dining room and be sure to give your compliments to the chef.
