The Heymann Center was transformed into a culinary adventure in mid-June for the EatLafayette kick-off event, A Taste of Lafayette. This year's local dining campaign participants were ready to dish up samples of popular menu items to hungry guests - there's no other place in town where barbecue, Indian cuisine, sushi and cupcakes harmoniously live side-by-side. Guests were spotted sipping on cocktail creations from sponsors like Rank Wildcat Spirits' popular Sweet Crude Rum while beating the summer heat and enjoying delicious bites. The summer dining campaign runs until Sept. 1 to promote local restaurants and encourage diners to try new homegrown eateries.

For the third consecutive year, a sellout crowd filled the Cajundome Convention Center June 19 to hear LEDA chief Gregg Gothreaux's State of the Economy report. Yet again, Gothreaux struck an optimistic tone, explaining in detail why the Lafayette economy continues on a positive trajectory. Presenting sponsors are Investar Bank and UBS/The William James Investment Group. UBS Managing Director-Investments Rick Frayard delivered a brief overview of the national economy before Gothreaux took the stage. Additional sponsors include Turnkey Title & Escrow, AT&T and Acadiana Economic Development.
