The deadline to purchase tickets for the 2014 ABiz Top 50 Business Luncheon featuring top-selling author, political activist and Harvard law professor Lawrence Lessig is only two weeks away.

Lessig was recently featured in this article by The New York Times for his role in creating the Mayday "super PAC," which was launched in May to raise money for supporting candidates from both political parties who are willing to back measures aimed at curbing the influence of big money donors in the political process.

The annual luncheon, held to honor Acadiana's top performing privately held businesses and locally-domiciled publicly traded companies, is set for Wednesday, Aug. 20 at the Cajundome Convention Center at noon. Immediately following the luncheon, Barnes & Noble will host a book signing featuring Lessig, with copies of Republic Lost and The USA is Lesterland available for purchase.

Returning this year as the luncheon's presenting co-sponsors are the law firm of Allen & Gooch and Whitney Bank. Additional supporting sponsors include Frank's International, The LHC Group and The Acadiana Economic Development Council. The Pinnacle Group Insurance & Financial Services is The Top 50 VIP Parking sponsor, and sustaining sponsor is Ahrens Investment Partners. Vidox Motion Imagery is the Top 50 digital media partner.

Tickets are $50 per person or $495 for a reserved table for eight. The deadline to purchase tickets is Wednesday, Aug. 13 at noon.

Immediately following the luncheon, Barnes & Noble will host a book signing featuring Lessig, with copies of "Republic, Lost" and "The USA is Lesterland".
