"DAYLIGHT TRAIN ROBBERY BY STATE POLICE"
AUG 4 Blogger CB Forgotston says there's no "diplomatic way" to describe what's going on with State Police and their pension plan. (Wait - CB's usually diplomatic? Did we miss a memo?) In any event, he says the board overseeing the plan is to decide this week what happens next.

VITTER'S A COMMON CORE FLIP-FLOPPER TOO
AUG 4 Senator David Vitter is a flip-flopper on Common Core just like Bobby Jindal, but in a different direction, blogger Bob Mann tells us in this post. Bobby liked it before he hated it (well, let's be frank: he participated in its creation before he hated it) and Vitter hated it before he liked it, Bob writes.

MADDOW SHOW BLOGS ON RUNAWAY CANDIDATE
AUG 4 Congressional candidate Lenar Whitney is the focus of this post on the Rachel Maddow Blog, and it's not in a good way. The good news? Apparently, she's not alone among politicians who like to shoot their mouths off but aren't interested in explaining themselves afterward. Maybe that's good for her, but what about us?

TEACHER RESPONDS TO CAMPBELL BROWN
AUG 4 Here's an open letter to Campbell Brown (daughter of former state official and federal jailbird Jim Brown and self-appointed education expert) who recently made an appearance on the Colbert Report. In it, Aswell admits that there was a lot of information he never saw before he wrote the first post, but he fixes that problem here.

DARDENNE PUTTING TOGETHER HIS TEAM
AUG 4 Jay Dardenne is putting together the team for his run for governor, and this post on LaPolitics lets us in on the membership so far. Dardenne is leaning on old friends and hiring national experts as well to run his campaign, the post tells us.

LITTLE BOY DIES FROM PUNISHMENT
AUG 4 Columnist Jarvis DeBerry writes about a little boy in Reserve who died from the punishment his parents inflicted on him. This young man confessed to his mother that he had stolen some ice cream, and was beaten to death for it. The mother and her husband were convicted last week in connection with the boy's death, DeBerry tells us.

GILL: LAWYERS WITHOUT CURIOSITY ARE A CURIOSITY
AUG 4 Columnist James Gill tells us an interesting story here about a NOLA city council member who also is a defense attorney, and was called to testify during a court hearing last week about text messages he received from a former client. The issue? At the time, that client was in the pokey - where you're not supposed to have your cell phone.
