For August, the Cane Fire Film Series is screening the Swedish punk-rock fable We Are The Best! from Swedish filmmaker Lukas Moodysson.
We Are the Best! revolves around three girls growing up in 1980s Stockholm who take it upon themselves to form a punk band, despite the fact that none of them possess any instruments and all of them are told that punk is dead.
We Are The Best!, which is based on a graphic novel written by Moodysson's wife Coco, stands as a tribute to the DIY culture, the power of rebellion and the undying art form of punk music.
The Cane Fire Film Series screens We Are The Best! on Monday, Aug. 11, at 7:30 p.m., at the Acadiana Center for the Arts, located at 101 W. Vermilion St., in Downtown Lafayette.
