EAST ON THE CREEPY NEW FACEBOOK APP
AUG 15 In this post on DIG Magazine, blogger Katie East is talking about that new messenger app that Facebook is trying to force everybody to download. The privacy issues (as usual) are a concern, but even if they aren't, who wants to be bullied into downloading a stupid app?

AUG 15 The Advocate's Richard Burgess posts this column about the recent controversy involving a local priest and decades-old allegations of sexual abuse of a child. The church's response - that there was an investigation done years ago that cleared the priest, but oh, sorry, we can't find it - is just strange, Burgess writes.

PENSION BOARD TO KENNEDY: NO REPORT FOR YOU!
AUG 14 Blogger Tom Aswell is giving us the latest on Treasurer John Kennedy's efforts to figure out how the so-called "Edmonson Amendment" got passed and whether it is legal. The latest is not very good - he's having to make public records requests to see a report done by the pension staff, and he's not having much luck in getting the pension board to ask the courts to rule on the legality of the law.

BUZZ RECOUNTS BOBBY'S VISIT TO MORNING JOE
AUG 15 The Bayou Buzz blog lets us know what happened with Gov. Bobby Jindal visited the Morning Joe program on MSNBC this week. There's a link to the clip, and Buzz gives us some of Bobby's quotes on Common Core. (But was there any mention of the billion-dollar shortfall?)

AUG 15 So a big ole cannon at the Cabildo, which has been pointing at Jackson Square for more than a century, has been loaded all this time. WWL reports here that, during a recent restoration of the thing, it was "discovered" that it was loaded. Say what?

WHERE LEVEE BOARD NOMINEES STAND
AUG 15 Bobby Jindal wants to structure the levee board to kill the Big Oil lawsuit, sure - but if he had to chose today he'd be one fry short of a Happy Meal, this post on The Lens tells us. The two current nominees would not change the vote on the suit, The Lens reports.
