Tea Party ‘shocked and outraged' by Vitter

The Tea Party of Louisiana is calling Sen. David Vitter a "turncoat" for his newfound embrace of Common Core educational standards, which the group sensationally characterizes as "total federalized control of education, indoctrination and [wait for it!] socialism."

Here's what the America-loving patriots had to say on their website today:

The Tea Party of Louisiana is expressing "shock and outrage" over Sen. David Vitter's support for the Common Core educational standards.

... "TPoL has always thought of Senator Vitter as a friend of Liberty, but his statements in support of Common Core are not what we'd have expected from someone who is a defender of Louisiana's children and a champion of Freedom and less government," said spokesman Bob Reid in an emailed statement Monday. "Sadly, Senator Vitter's remarks sound more like the rhetoric we'd expect from a D.C. elitist who doesn't believe that we average citizens are capable of making our own decisions, running our own lives, and raising our own children."

To prove Common Core is "total federalized control of education, indoctrination and socialism" the group posted several links to blogs and articles critical of the education standards, the first of which ran under the headline, "Common Core Turns First Wave of Students Gay" from a satirical website.
