EatLafayette Dish of the Day: Rusted Rooster's Zerben sandwich

by Kari Walker

Corned beef, melty cheese and rye bread ready for your lunchtime breakaway

When breakfast time has passed, don't forget about this gem of a restaurant on St. Landry just on the borders of Downtown and the Saint Streets - there's more to delight in than the fluffy Bootsie's biscuits in the morning.

The Zerben at Rusted Rooster - corned beef, cheese and rye

The lunch menu at Rusted Rooster is brimming with clever named dishes for its sandwiches, burgers and salads selections. While you can't go wrong with any of the selections, might IND Eats suggest trying the Zerben sandwich.

The Zerben is Rusted Rooster's spin on a Reuben sandwich - corned beef, melted Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and a homemade Russian dressing all on marbled rye bread. It's even more of a delight when you sink your teeth into this hot-pressed masterpiece. Get a side salad as a companion for your meal and enjoy your Thursday lunchtime escape.
