Here's what you need to know to be part of Lafayette's own Fashion Night Out.

The IND Style Awards were created in 2012 to celebrate Lafayette's unique fashion sense and the people who wear it well across a wide range of different personal styles. Our goal is also to remind readers that the city has become a regional shopping mecca and to provide a first-rate runway fashion experience for the boutique owners who write the city's fashion statement and for the local fashionistas who take it to the streets every day. Each year we weave this message into the pages of The IND, online at theind.com and onto the runway of the James Moncus Theater at the Acadiana Center for the Arts. And in this, our third year, The IND Style Awards have definitely become a rite of fall among the fashion forward in Acadiana.

The Class of 2014 IND Style honorees includes real estate executive Bill Bacqué; home builder/designer and state legislator Stephen Ortego; jewelry designer Rozalyn Galyean; retail sales professional Victoria Toups; UL professor, musician and film actor Mike Larson; and Realtor Mary Ann Mirian. Four other honorees will take the runway in pairs, a first for the IND Style Awards. They are the respected law partners Clyde Simien and Rickey Miniex, and a stylish couple, attorney Rye Tuten and his wife, Lainey.

Moss Motors has been a legacy sponsor of this event since year one. "Great style is synonymous with both Mercedez Benz and BMW brands," says Sharon Moss, CEO of Moss Motors. "We're excited about being part of IND Style again this year. We'll also have our latest models on display that night." In addition to sponsoring Lafayette's own "fashion's night out," Moss's sleek BMW showroom provided the perfect backdrop for this year's honoree party and photo shoot. You can see the results in the profiles that begin on Page 19.

Local retailers who participate in the show appreciate the high standards set by show producer Bob Pastor and INDevents Development Director Robin Hebert. Runway models are required to audition and then matched to the look of each store.

Rocking the runway this fall will be fashions from Brother's, Hemline, HerringStone's, kiki, Shoe Fits, Shoe La La, Park Lane and Vertage. The Aveda Institute returns to provide hair and makeup, and Party Central is back as the décor sponsor for the stage, theater, lobby and VIP Loft. The party moves to Jefferson Street Pub for a post-event DJ and dancing.

The IND Style Awards are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 18, at The AcA. Doors open at 7 p.m.; show starts promptly at 8:30 p.m. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $75 per person, which includes runway seating, goody bags and a pre-party upstairs with complimentary drinks in the VIP Loft. Robin Hebert is the contact for those seats; call (337) 769-8603 or email her at [email protected]. Mezzanine seating is available at $45 per person, and SRO tickets are $25 each. Those tickets are available directly from the AcA ticket office, online here or by phone at (337) 233-7060.

A portion of the proceeds from will benefit The Early Childhood Program of the Women's Leadership Council of The United Way of Acadiana.
