The recently established Downtown Lafayette Restaurant & Bar Association will host a special viewing of the upcoming New Orleans Saints taking on the Carolina Panthers in the open air of Parc Sans Souci on Thursday, Oct. 30.

The New Orleans Saints take on the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, Oct. 30 and the newly minted Downtown Lafayette Restaurant & Bar Association is hosting a free showing of the game on a big screen TV set up under the gazebo at Parc Sans Souci.

Saints in the Parc marks the first and only fundraiser event in 2014 for the association, which is comprised of the many service industry businesses operating in the downtown area.

"We're trying to raise funds to become a strong, established organization for a better Downtown Lafayette," says Gustavo Rezende, the DLRBA's first president as well as the proprietor for the Jefferson Street Pub.

Saints in the Parc will offer food and beverages for guests as well as candy and trick-or-treating for children. A cash bar will also be provided by several DLRBA members including Jefferson Street Pub, Legend's, Pamplona, La Carreta, Marley's, City Bar and more. Proceeds from the evening will go to DLRBA to help fund future events for 2015.

There will also be halftime entertainment provided by local singer-songwriter Ray Boudreaux as well as the premiere of a special video presentation about the DLRBA and its members from local filmmaker Stephen Meaux.

"Stephen Meaux did a beautiful three minute video about downtown's bars and restaurants that we're going to show," says Rezende.

Saints in the Parc takes place on Thursday, Oct. 30, starting at 6 p.m. in Parc Sans Souci in Downtown Lafayette. The event is free and open to the public, though guests are asked to keep outside food and drinks at home. For more information on Saints in the Parc, visit Facebook.
