Two members of City-Parish President Joey Durel’s team are moving up within Lafayette Consolidated Government.

LCG announced Monday afternoon that Kevin Blanchard, who has served for a little over a year as city-parish government’s first chief development officer, has been promoted to public works director, a position that has been open for a few months following the retirement of former Director Tom Carroll. Alm-LaBar, who has been assistant to Durel for the last four years, will move into Blanchard’s old job. Both were heavily involved in the development of PlanLafayette — the recently adopted comprehensive master plan for the city.

“Going into my final year, I am excited about these two appointments, as they bring fresh energy and set the tone for the work we can get done in the next twelve months. Both Kevin and Carlee’s in-depth knowledge of the comprehensive plan will help achieve some of the short term action items in the plan and implement systemic changes for the more long term items,” Durel says in a press release announcing the promotions. “There are many people who have helped bring this government to where it is today, and I am grateful to all those who have served this government and our community over the last eleven years. Kevin and Carlee are part of the next generation of leaders who will help take Lafayette into the future.”
