Former president of Chevron North America Exploration and Production is first non-Mosing to serve as president and CEO.

Abbeville native Gary Luquette, who retired from his post as president of Chevron North America Exploration and Production Company in September 2013, is ascending to the top executive position at Frank’s International. The global oil service company announced this week that its board of supervisory directors plans to, after a special shareholder meeting on Jan. 23, appoint Luquette to succeed Keith Mosing.

Luquette joined Frank’s board in November 2013 and will continue in that role. Mosing, who calls the appointment “good planning for a back up,” will become executive chairman of the board and will remain active in the company’s day-to-day operations. “I will still run company,” Mosing tells ABiz, “but [we] are excited to have Gary on board.”

Keith Mosing has been the company’s chairman, president and CEO of all of its U.S. companies since July 2011, roles he assumed upon the retirement of his father, Donald E. Mosing. Mosing was only 14 in 1965 when he began working for the company founded by his grandfather, Frank Mosing.

Luquette, who joined Chevron in 1978, was president of its North American E&P division for more than seven years. He earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from UL Lafayette in 1978 and is a former member of the American Petroleum Institute, former chair of the organization’s Upstream Committee and former member of the Greater Houston Partnership’s Executive Committee. He also serves on the board of directors for the United Way of Greater Houston and is a member of the board of directors of McDermott International Inc.

At the special meeting in late January, shareholders will be asked to elect William B. Berry to serve on the company’s board for a term that will expire at the 2015 annual meeting of shareholders.

Berry served as executive vice president, exploration and production, of ConocoPhillips from 2003 until his retirement in January 2008. He has more than 30 years of experience with ConocoPhillips and Phillips Petroleum Company. Berry has a bachelor’s and master of science degree in petroleum engineering from Mississippi State University. He serves on the boards of directors of Teekay Corporation and Continental Resources Inc.

Founded in 1938 in Lafayette, Frank’s has more than 4,000 employees and provides services in approximately 60 countries on six continents. The company’s common stock is traded on the NYSE under the symbol “FI.”
