Dee Stanley makes it official

Dee Stanley

Lafayette Consolidated Government’s chief administrative officer and longtime right-hand man to City-Parish President Joey Durel announces what everyone has known for months: He will seek his term-limited boss’ job in the election this fall.

In a two-page letter to supporters Dee Stanley cites several accomplishments over the last 11 years as CAO, saying he has “had the best job in the world and the best two bosses in the world — Joey Durel and the people of Lafayette Parish.”

Prior to serving as CAO, Stanley was a longtime investigative reporter and news director at KLFY TV10 and also served as clerk of the pre-consolidation Lafayette City Council in the early ’90s.

Stanley is likely to face Rep. Joel Robideaux, another south Lafayette Republican who is serving his final term in the state House of Representatives. City-Parish Councilman Kenneth Boudreaux, a Democrat, has also said he’s considering running for city-parish president.

The Stanley campaign will hold its first fundraiser — an unspecified event — on Jan. 28. Following is his announcement letter.
