This week in ‘Thank God for Mississippi’

The Magnolia State once again spares Louisiana from being the worst at something.

Politico’s second annual ranking of the states once again finds Mississippi last — 51st in a list that includes the District of Columbia — and Louisiana just a notch above our neighbor to the east.

The Beltway political website used 14 existing rankings ranging from education, per capita income, health, crime, poverty and unemployment to create its composite ranking. Minnesota and New Hampshire share the No. 1 spot; the Top 5 is rounded out by Vermont, Utah and Colorado. Bottom dwellers along with Louisiana and Mississippi are Arkansas, Tennessee and Alabama.
