Over the weekend, Lance Lomas lost his life in a ATV accident in St. Landry Parish; but making this story even more tragic is the eerie similarity between his death and that of his brother Lon Lomas six months earlier.
According to a report by The Associated Press, the 28-year-old Lance Lomas was riding an all-terrain vehicle Saturday night along the shoulder of U.S. 190 in St. Landry Parish. After cutting a sharp right turn, Lomas crossed a driveway and headed into a ditch, causing the ATV to begin flipping, throwing Lomas from his seat into a water-filled ditch. He wasn’t wearing a helmet and later died from his injuries while at a local hospital. He left behind a wife, a son, and two step-children.
The incident is made even more tragic given the death of his older brother Lon Lomas in a cycling accident nearly six months ago on July 7. Lon Lomas, who was 30 years-old at the time and the father of two young children, was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Milton and left for dead in a ditch along La. 92.
