Following the recent announcement from Scott Police Chief Chad Leger, two new names have emerged in the race to become Lafayette Parish’s next sheriff.
Though neither has officially made an announcement, the two new candidates include John P. Rogers and Mark T. Garber.
The second candidate to recently enter the fold is Lafayette attorney Mark T. Garber, who confirmed his intentions to run in a Thursday evening phone call with The IND. Garber’s background is also in law enforcement, working four years as a federal criminal investigator before serving as an assistant district attorney in the 15th Judicial District from 2008 and 2014. He’s also a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Stay tuned for a more in-depth look at these candidates.
