Paint for PRIDE

Painting with a Twist is hosting a special fundraising event for would-be painters to benefit Acadiana PRIDE.

Fundraiser will be held on Sunday, Feb. 8 at Painting With A Twist

Painting with a Twist in Lafayette is hosting an event for would-be painters to explore their artistic side while also helping out Acadiana PRIDE. The charity event, aptly named Painting with a Purpose, brings together amatuer and skilled painters alike and provides inspiration for a painting that combines the celebratory spirit of Mardi Gras with the significant colors of PRIDE called “Mardi Gras PRIDE.”

This fundraiser event requires absolutely no prior art experience to participate in and all art supplies, including an artist instructor, are provided to help guide everyone to create their own paintings. Class participants are also encouraged to bring snacks, wine or beer to enhance their painting experience. And at the end of the three-hour class, participants may keep their painting, while 75 percent of their reservation fee will be donated to Acadiana PRIDE.

Acadiana People Representing Individual Differences and Experiences (PRIDE) is an organization formed last year to promote their message of “Unity Through Diversity” by educating the community on their shared individual differences and experiences regarding family, friendship and diversity.

Funds raised from Painting With A Purpose will go to benefit the inaugural Acadiana PRIDE Festival, which will be held from March 26-29 in Downtown Lafayette, that features four days of music, theatre, film and arts that focus on Acadiana’s growing LGBT community.

Painting With A Purpose is $45 per person to attend and will be held on Sunday, Feb. 8, at 3 p.m. in Painting With A Twist, located at 1812 W. Pinhook Road, Suite 201, in Lafayette. For more information visit PaintingWithATwist.com. And for more information on Acadiana PRIDE visit AcadianaPride.org.
