WHY VITTER AND JINDAL HATE EACH OTHER
FEB 27 Here's a post in the National Journal that is interesting in that it is about an issue largely viewed as the elephant in the room - as long as the room is in Louisiana. It's old news (here) that David Vitter and Bobby Jindal really, really, REALLY don't like each other - but why? It's an interesting analysis, possibly accurate, possibly not, but definitely worth a read.

BROWN: POLITICS AND RELIGION DON'T MIX
FEB 27 Jim Brown is blogging about religion and politics this week. He talks about prayer rallies and the dangers of rewarding politicians who chose sides in the religion arena, and he quotes the Bible. The verse he refers to clearly was never studied by any host of a televised prayer rally.

DEFAMATION SUIT FILED IN DEEPWATER
FEB 27 A former Pat Juneau deputy has filed a defamation suit against Louis Freeh, the Louisiana Record reports in this post. Christine Reitano claims that Freeh ruined her career in law when he accused her of corruption.

WAIT -- IS SOMEONE BUYING THIS STORY?
FEB 27 A state economist has disputed Bobby Jindal's (ridiculous) story line that blames Louisiana's budget problems on recent drops in oil prices, the Picayune reports here. The real question is, who is falling for that story? These budget problems have been repeated for years. Do these oil prices have some sort of retroactive effect? Please.
