Though the official deadline is Friday, so far, 11 candidates have submitted applications to become the next superintendent of the Lafayette Parish School System.
The board will meet Wednesday to further map out how it plans to proceed with the process, which is expected to be finalized by the end of May.
From a report by The Daily Advertiser, here’s a look at the 11 candidates:
Donald Aguillard
Aguillard has served as the superintendent of St. Mary Parish schools since 2004. He worked for 28 years in the Lafayette Parish School System as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, area director and district administrator. His tenure included teaching biology and physical science at Acadiana High.Aguillard received a bachelor’s degree in secondary science education, a master’s degree in curriculum and an educational specialist degree in administration/supervision, all from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He completed his doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Louisiana State University, and has been an LSU Graduate Fellow.
Donna Alleman
Alleman appears to have a background in special education. She has served on a state special education advisory panel, and oversaw special education programs at Assumption High School.She also has been the outreach director for the Louisiana Schools for the Deaf and Visually Impaired.

Hamilton Brock**
Brock is the assistant principal of Baker Middle School, a position he has held since 2013. Prior to that, he was principal of the alternative center in Baker.

Chad Broussard**
Broussard has been the head of school of St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, New Jersey since July 2014. He also is a member of the school’s board of trustees.Prior to being named head of school, Broussard had 13 years of experience as a teacher and administrator in Louisiana, Texas and New Jersey. Before joining St. Anthony, he was a supervisor in the Plainfield New Jersey public school system, overseeing testing and test data analysis.
He was the principal of Lake Area New Tech Early College High School in New Orleans, principal in the Judson Independent School District in San Antonio, a principal and dean of students in the Bryan Independent School District in Texas, as well as an assistant principal and academic coordinator in the Southwest Independent School District in San Antonio.
Broussard is a native of Louisiana. He received a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Xavier University in Louisiana and a master’s degree in education leadership and policy studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He attended the Harvard University Graduate School of Education National Institute for Urban School Leaders. He expects to receive a doctorate in education from Seton Hall University this spring.
Curt Green
Green is the principal of East Feliciana High School, a position he has held since late last year. He has also worked as an administrator in Atlanta Public Schools.Green also was the principal at the Capitol Pre-College Academy for Boys in East Baton Rouge Parish.
He received a bachelor’s degree in general studies with an emphasis in social sciences from Louisiana State University. He also holds a master’s degree in teaching secondary social studies and a master’s degree in public school administration, both from the University of Alaska-Anchorage.
**Sheila Guidry
**Guidry currently is the finance chief of staff for the Louisiana Department of Education. Her other roles with the state department have included serving as executive director of grants management, executive director of the school turnaround office, best practices coordinator at the school turnaround office and the project administrator for the Louisiana School Turnaround Specialist Program.Before joining the Louisiana education department, Guidry was the director of the Science and Math Academy in St. James Parish, the Head Start coordinator in Assumption Parish and a project administrator for the Louisiana Educational Leader Induction Program.
Earlier in her career, she was a master teacher at Ellender High School in Terrebonne Parish, a summer school principal in Terrebonne Parish, a teacher and coach at Ellender Memorial High and a teacher and coach at Centerville High School in St. Mary Parish.
Joanie Hudson
Hudson is a learning coach for Education Service Center Region 3 in Fort Worth, Texas. In that role, she provided coaching for school district staff and corporations, and also provides training for campus intervention teams and professional learning communities.Prior to that, Hudson was the assistant superintendent of school improvement for the LaMarque Independent School District, the assistant director of federal programs for the Garland Independent School District, the executive director of the Cedar Hill Independent School District and a principal in the Alvarado Independent School District.
Victoria Miles
Miles currently is the director of federal programs for the Keller Independent School District in Texas. Prior to that, she was the district’s director of general education support. She also was a principal in North Kansas City Schools for six years.

Mathew Neal**
Neal was the superintendent of Sweetwater County School District No. 1 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. According to media reports, the board there placed him on paid administrative leave in September, and Neal resigned as superintendent in November after reaching a severance agreement with the district. The reasons for the leave and resignation were not immediately clear.Neal had been superintendent in Sweetwater County for about a year. Prior to that, he was the director of innovation strategy and operations for Denver Public Schools. While in Denver, he directed the opening of nine new schools. Before that, he was executive director of the Brighton and Durango school districts in Colorado.
Carlos Sam
Sam is the East Baton Rouge Parish associate superintendent for school leadership and instruction, a position he has held since 2012. According to the district website, he is the administrator in charge of supporting charter school initiatives and working as a liaison between the district and the Foundation for East Baton Rouge School System.He received a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Southern University.
Francis Touchet Jr.
Touchet is an education consultant, working with district superintendents throughout Louisiana to improve district and school performance. Prior to that, he was the principal of Erath High School, which was frequently rated the No. 1 public high school in Louisiana.Touchet also was an assistant principal at Erath High and Abbeville High.
He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, and a master’s degree and master’s plus 30 from McNeese State University.
