MICHAEL DOUCET ON 40 YEARS OF BEAUSOLEIL
APR 21 Here's a cool profile of Michael Doucet in the Where Y'at mag. It's a fascinating look back at his musical journey, but also at French in Louisiana, assimilation, "underground music" and our culture. Definitely a good read.

ASWELL: WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT?
APR 21 Blogger Tom Aswell gives us his take (and that of his anonymous political cartoonist) on Bobby Jindal's session address in this post. (Spoiler alert: he ain't impressed.) The cartoonist thinks that it's right up there with his cringe-worthy response to the 2009 State of the Union, and Tom thinks it proves he's been committing payroll fraud.

BEAM: GOP DELEGATION KISSING VITTER'S HINEY
APR 21 Columnist Jim Beam writes about how eager our Congressional delegation (the R-part of it, anyway) has been to endorse David Vitter for Governor. Apparently, his inability to get anything passed in DC and his (alleged?) history with a dead DC pimp and several live NOLA ones are top qualifications for the office of governor. CLANCY ON NAGIN'S HOPE FOR A NEW TRIAL
APR 21 Columnist Clancy DuBos writes about federal jailbird and former NOLA mayor Ray Nagin's hope that his new lawyers' (weak, lame, pie-in-the-sky) argument that one jury instruction wasn't correct will win him a new trial. It's a long shot, Clancy opines.

APR 21 Gov. Jindal's buds in the legislature have backed off some of their initial strategies to address the $1.6 billion (BILLION, hello? BILLION) deficit we're facing, the Picayune reports here. Turns out, their plans wouldn't have saved any money. Hey, Karma's a beeotch, and so are the consequences of seven years of short-sighted, foolish, ALEC-based budgeting.

APR 20 Blogger Ian McGibboney posts some before-and-after photos here from locations near Lake Tahoe that show just how devastating the drought in that area have been.

BR ATTORNEY'S MURDER FOCUS OF TV PROGRAM
APR 21 Here's a post on Inquisitr about the murder of Baton Rouge attorney Chiquita Tate. In the end, it's a sad, sorry, story about domestic violence.
Tuesday's Blogs from the Bog!
Where Y'at has a great profile of Michael Doucet you need to read. Also today, Tom's not impressed with Jindal's session speech and Ian has a look at drought.
