Cooper's wrongful termination suit remains in limbo

With the LPSB moving on and hiring a new superintendent, former super Pat Cooper still awaits his day in court for a lawsuit challenging his termination in November.

With the Lafayette Parish School Board moving on and hiring a new superintendent, former super Pat Cooper still awaits his day in court for a lawsuit challenging his termination in November.

Cooper’s attorney, Lane Roy, filed a motion Monday requesting a trial date in the 15th Judicial District Court, according to this report from The Advocate.

Cooper’s lawsuit was filed about two weeks after the board voted 7-2 in November for his termination, alleging his ouster was politically motivated and the result of “vindictiveness” by board members.

Though the case has been assigned to Judge Patrick Michot, there’s been no action on the matter since its filing.
