After nearly an hour of discussion, much of it in opposition or at least in favor of deferring action, the City-Parish Council voted in favor of the Unified Development Code. The UDC streamlines zoning codes in the city of Lafayette. The process of developing it began attendant to the PlanLafayette comprehensive plan back in 2011, including input from a steering committee comprising planners, developers, architects, real estate agents and others for roughly a year beginning in late 2013.
