ALFORD: CANDIDATES WILL HAVE TO WHACK AWAY AT VITTER TO WIN
MAY 15 Here's an interesting post in LaPolitics from Jeremy Alford about David Vitter. He's talking about how Dave's the guy to beat if you want to try to clean up Jindal's mess. Vitter's opponents are going to have to start hitting the Senator pretty hard if they're going to beat him, Alford says. (Really? One word: Hooker.)

GILL: LOOK OUT FOR THE STUPIDS, THEY'RE DANGEROUS
MAY 15 Columnist James Gill says there are crooked pols and stupid pols, and when you've got a stupid one who also is lacking in the integrity department you've really got a problem. Case in point: Ray Nagin. Gill wants to be sure we all remember that it was Nagin who gave us Irving Mayfield, who lately has been in the news because of his (questionable? illegal?) activities involving the NOLA libraries.

MAY 15 Blogger CB Forgotston is telling tales out of school in this post -- he's revealing a long-standing habit that most voters don't know about. Members of our House of Representatives routinely change their votes at the end of the day - from yes to no, but much more frequently from "absent" to something else. Stinky, right?

MAY 15 Politico posts this interesting story about Scott Walker, who is leading several GOP presidential polls, and his problems convincing the extreme right wing nuts that he really is talking to Jesus every day. It's interesting, isn't it, that the son of a Baptist preacher must 'convince' people like Tony Perkins that he's just as out there as the pandering son of a Hindu immigrant? And if he's leading the polls - why does he need to care about Tony Perkins?

MAY 15 Blogger Tom Aswell is sharing his grandpa's advice with Louisiana's teachers: you better stand up for yourself, because nobody else is going to do it. If you're not sure why they need to stand up, Aswell's going to explain that to you, too.

THE PRICE OF A VOTE THESE DAYS
MAY 15 Lee Zurik takes a look at lobbyist reports in this investigative piece on WVUE. Lobbyists shell out big bucks to wine and dine legislators and their spouses (go figure on that one) but much of the detail is still shrouded in mystery. Yeah - no kidding. Don't the leges make the laws about what they have to report? Guess this is that "gold standard" we've heard so much about?

Alford says guv candidates are going to have to start hitting Vitter if they want to beat him; Gill warns us to steer clear of dummies and CB reveals a dirty little secret.
