A Lafayette Consolidated Government employee was arrested last week on more than 200 fraud and malfeasance charges. KATC-TV3 broke the story, reporting that 58-year-old Tracey Dalfrey had posted $585,000 bail and was released late Friday night.
Dalfrey is charged with 118 counts of fraud and 118 counts of malfeasance in office for an alleged bid fixing scheme involving local government's waste water division, where he has worked for more than two decades. He most recently was a senior mechanic, a Civil Service position.
Dalfrey, of Carencro, was booked following an investigation by the Lafayette Police Department.
The station reported that Dalfrey created three fraudulent businesses and entered into contracts with LCG totaling $746,000. Such a practice would also violate state ethics laws.
"We can't comment on it because it's a pending criminal investigation," says Dee Stanley, LCG's chief administrative office. Stanley confirmed that for now Dalfrey is on paid administrative leave, as required by Civil Service rules.
